Q: Hi Matt and welcome to CambridgeSpace – what made you want to try Coworking and would you recommend it to others?
A: I would always recommend co-working. I used Ideaspace before and not only is it great for getting you dressed and out of the house – you meet amazing people who can always bring a different perspective to your work.
Q: You’re starting a new virtual job; what ideas are you working on right now?
A: I move to NYC the end of the year or early next. So i’m working for my US company while also trying to finish off some tech we built 2 years ago.
Q: What did you do before?
A: I had my first full time job in nearly 10 years. Working for a trade body that helps advise marketing agencies (creative to digital). It was early trains to London every day but at least mortgage lenders suddenly liked me.
Q: What is the most common issue you have to deal with and how do you solve it?
A: It was being about the only person in the building that didn’t understand code. Don’t be afraid to ask somebody with headphones on what they were doing.
Q: What practical book / blog post / podcast etc would you recommend?
A: Sorry to be boring, but it’s “The Lean Start-Up”.
Q: What is your daily mantra?
A: Doing something interesting is better than having a posh car and makes you more interesting. I made that up quickly.
Q: What productivity hack would you recommend?
A: Get a reputation for never listening to your voice mail. It takes ages, just delete them.
Q: What music do you listen to when you work?
A: The radio – whatever’s on – I’m new so going with the flow.
Q: Who inspires you and why?
A: Anybody that’s over 35 and starts something completely new. Unbelievably difficult thing to do which is a shame.
Q: Where are you taking your next holiday and what do you plan to do?
A: Camping in France, drink wine and let the kids stay up late for night-time walks on the beach.
